LEXINGTON, Ky. - Frances Stone Anggelis, widow of John Chris Anggelis passed from death into Life on February 23, 2013. Born in Lynchburg Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Albert G. Stone. A graduate of KY Wesleyan College, she was a retired High School English teacher; however, her most loved vocation was that of Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Her many volunteer activities include the Lexington Women's Club, Fayette County PTA Council, Seventh District Congress of Parents and Teachers, and the KY Conference United Methodist Women. In each of these organizations, she held the office of President or Vice President. As a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, "Frannie" served as a former Youth Coordinator and a much loved Counselor for the United Methodist Youth Fellowship. In recognition of her volunteerism, she was named Outstanding Lexington Woman. In the year that women became eligible for Rhodes Scholarships, Fran was the first KY woman to serve on the selection committee, holding that position and distinction for five years.
She is survived by daughters Constance Stone Anggelis and Virginia Morris Anggelis; grandchildren Joseph Christopher Stone and his wife Julie, and Helen Elizabeth Newman and her husband Jared; great-grandchildren William Christopher Stone and Lauren Anne Stone; sister Margaret Stone Jones; sister-in-law Mel Anggelis; three nephews; six nieces; five first cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5pm to 8pm at Kerr Brothers, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd. Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the funeral home at 10:00a.m. with a private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Fran's memory may be given to Centenary United Methodist Church.
