LEXINGTON, Ky. - Forrest Elmo Foley, 89, passed away February 24, 2013 at the Hospice Care Center. Born June 3, 1923 in Webbs Cross Roads, KY, he was a son of the late Robert and Elsie Foley.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Kenneth and John Foley; and a son-in-law, Ron Hennis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 65 years, Treva Robertson Foley; his children, Barry (Charlotte), Benny (Donna), both of Lexington; Jana Hennis, Jeffersonville, IN, and Jeana (Jay) of Hyattsville, MD; grandchildren, Jeffrey Hennis, Katie Grigsby (Kevin), Justin Hennis and Oliver Foley; great grandchildren, Eli and Preston Grigsby; and his siblings, Robert B. Foley, Jr., Flora W. Foley and Paul E. Foley, all of Russell Springs, KY; and Ethridge L. Foley, Ft. Thomas KY and Doug Foley, Louisville, KY. Forrest graduated from Russell Springs High School.
He honorably served in the Navy aboard the USS Whitman in the South Pacific Theatre of WWII. Forrest retired from the United States Postal Service after 32 years of service, and also drove a school bus for Fayette County Public Schools for 11 years. Forrest’s life was centered around his Christian faith and his treasured family. He served as a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church for 57 years. Forrest was happiest near his dearest Treva, whom he fondly called “Mother”, his children, and grandchildren. Gardening, fishing and working outdoors were his favorite pastimes. The Foley family wishes to thank the staff of Lexington Country Place, St. Joseph Hospital, and Hospice of the Bluegrass for supporting Treva in providing excellent care for Forrest.
Funeral service will be 12:30 pm Thursday at Kerr Bros. – Harrodsburg Rd. by Pastor Steve Price with burial to follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Baptist Church, 811 Bryan Ave., Lexington KY 40505 or Hospice of the Bluegrass in his memory.
