Dorothy Hukill Tackett, 79

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dorothy Hukill Tackett, 79, widow of John Wheeler Tackett, of Lexington, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013.

A Lexington native, she was the daughter of the late Dollie Cravens and Frank Y. Hukill, Sr.. Dorothy was a retired bookkeeper for Womwell and Carquest Auto Parts, and a member of The Church at Athens.

Surviving are her daughters, Eliza (Roger) Byrd, Kathi (Doug) Adams, Susan (Paul) Hamilton and Lori Tackett; grandchildren, Andrew (Deborah) Wiley, John Wiley, Colby Adams, Curtis Adams, Matthew Hamilton, Casey Hamilton, Warren Lowe and Tanner Lowe; great-grandchildren, Jordyn and Jaxon Lowe and Eliza Marie Wiley and her best friend of 65 years, Betty Taylor. She also shared a special bond with a small group of friends in her neighborhood known as the “Sunset Ladies”. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 am Monday at Milward-Broadway where friends may call from 2 to 5 pm Sunday. Private burial will be at Lexington Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the Church at Athens.
