LEXINGTON, Ky. - Howard V. (Buddy) Adams, Jr., 75, passed away peacefully at his residence on March 4, 2013. A native of Lexington, he was the son of the late Howard V. and Dorothy E. Adams. Buddy graduated from Lafayette High School in 1956, attended the University of KY where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. In addition, he took advanced studies in safety management from the New York University Center for Safety Education. Buddy began his career with the Commonwealth of KY, Department of Public Safety and was a past member of Lexington Jaycees. He continued that career as District Manager with The Travelers Insurance Company in Los Angeles, CA and upon retirement in 1992, Buddy returned to his hometown of Lexington. Buddy was also an accomplished amateur magician and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, Order of Merlin Excalibur.
Buddy is survived by many good and long-time friends including Irwin and Heike Pickett, Versailles; Jean Wagoner, Lexington; Diane and Mike McKenzie, Wilmore; Peggy Wheeler, Lexington; G.P. Orona, Hollywood, CA; George Sac, Everette, WA; Judith Curtsinger, Lawrenceburg; Barbara and Bob Powell, Lexington; and George and Linda Allgeier, Lexington. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Dante. Buddy’s friends wish to extend their gratitude to his caregivers during his last illness, especially Bekki Franklin, Ethel Adams, Sharon Butler, Christy Scott, Shantay Rudd, Amanda Rigney and Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday.
