LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mary Porter Evans, 84, widow of Dr. Carl T. Evans, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013. A native of Shavertown, PA, she was a daughter of the late William Martin and Rachel Miles Porter. Mary graduated from Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
She was a member of Hunter Presbyterian Church, Lexington Medical Society, UK Hospital Auxiliary and a Charter and Life member of Ronald McDonald House of the Bluegrass.
Surviving are her children, Carl Thomas (Kathy) Evans, Chicago, IL, William Martin Evans, Lexington, Mary Anne (Randy) Lochridge, Spring Hill, TN and Kathryn Evans (Glenn) Barber, Louisville, KY; a sister, Mildred (Mrs. Gurnie) Hobbs, Bowie, MD; a sister-in-law, Margaret Porter, Milton, PA, a brother-in-law, Robert McGarry, Binghamton, NY; grandchildren, Matthew and Thomas Barber, Rachel and Sarah Lochridge and Kelly Porter Evans and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence E. Evans and her brothers, John and William Porter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Milward-Southland with entombment at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Wednesday.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Lexington Clinic Foundation or Ronald McDonald House.
