LEXINGTON, Ky. - Clifford Wilson, 87, husband of Jean Wilson, passed away Wed. Mar. 6, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. Born Nov. 6, 1925 in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Keither and Lizzie Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a graduate of Belfry High School and earned his BS and Master’s Degrees from the University of Kentucky. He completed his pre Doctorate studies at the University of Cincinnati. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, flying 44 missions in the Pacific Theatre as a B24 tail gunner. Mr. Wilson was a CPA and accounting professor at the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University, and an advisor for Beta Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a member of the Trinity-Cokesbury Sunday School Class at Centenary United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of Chapter 115 of Mended Hearts.
Additional survivors include a son, David Clifford (Susan) Wilson, Sacramento, CA; a daughter, Betsy Wilson (Erwin) Turner, Lexington, KY; one brother, Cullen (Beverly) Wilson, Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Staci Turner, Mobile, AL, Holly (Stephen) Curry, Elizabeth (Lyle) Goodwin, both of Lexington, and Sarah (Jason) Blevins, San Diego, CA; one great-granddaughter, Meredith Curry, Lexington; and special friend, Shvonda Johnson, Nicholasville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Irv Wilson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Mon. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Dr. Bill Moore and Rev. Tom Grieb. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 3–7 pm Sun. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Mended Hearts, Inc., Blue Grass Chapter #115, P.O. Box 23683, Lexington, KY 40523-3683.
