LEXINGTON, Ky. - David Thomas Vantreese, 61, husband of Susan “Sue” Vantreese, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Lexington Country Place. Born Nov. 24, 1951 in Paducah, KY, he was the son of Jeanne Wilson of Lexington, KY and the late Thomas Clyde Vantreese. David was an example of great courage and fortitude through his years of suffering. He was a man of integrity, gratitude, gentleness and love. Mr. Vantreese became an Eagle Scout at age 13, and worked 23 years as the Administrator of Instructional Design Center at the University of KY College of Education, where he also was on the Staff Senate. He was a former member of BWA and was an avid kayaker. Mr. Vantreese was a member of Southland Christian Church.
Survivors other than his wife and mother include, a daughter, Corrie Vantreese; and a son, John Vantreese, both of Lexington; a sister, Debby Vantreese, also of Lexington; and a brother, Dan (Kerri) Vantreese, Stamping Ground, KY.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 -8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
