LEXINGTON, Ky. - Jean Rister. “If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord”, Romans 14:8. Jean went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 8, 2013. She passed away at the U.K. Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY. She was born July 10, 1941. Jean was the daughter of the late Alvin Cummins, the late William P. Sweeney and the late Ada Sweeney. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and an active member of Gideon International. She was serving as president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Lexington Women’s Club. She also worked in the Lexington Children’s Clothing Center, clothing many children in Fayette County. Jean’s passion was her family. She was a very devout wife and mother. She always put her family first, and enjoyed every minute thoroughly that she got to spend with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her hobbies were flower gardening, traveling, golf, painting in oils and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald W. Rister. Her daughter, Paula Jean Rister Mullican and husband, Jeff Mullican, daughters, Kristin and Sarah, son, Paul W. Rister and wife Lisa Rister and sons, Nathan, Aaron and Jacob, and son, Bradley W. Rister and wife Lauren, and children, William and Addie. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grammie, and child of God.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Contributions are suggested to the Gideon’s International, Lexington North Camp, PO Box 54916, Lexington, KY 40555.
