LEXINGTON, Ky. - Fred Helmick Sr., 81, widower of Corinne Kenny Brandenburg Helmick, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 at his residence. Born in Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary Helmick. He was retired from Web Brothers Security and was an Air Force veteran having served in Korea. He was given a special declaration from the president of South Korea that was only given to 51 soldiers. He also received two Silver Stars and five Bronze Stars. He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors are two sons, Fred (Patti) Helmick Jr., Irvine, KY, and Michael (Angelia) Helmick, Lexington; two daughters, Julie (Kenneth) Helmick-Fair, Lexington, and Deborah Lynn Helmick (Mattingly) Biddle (Stephen Ray Mattingly Sr.), Lawrenceburg, KY; eight grandchildren, Stephen (Christy) Mattingly, Lexington, Chris Mattingly, Lawrenceburg, Andrew Mattingly, Nicholasville, Jordan Mattingly and fiancé Nicole, Lawrenceburg, Skylar Tincher, Lawrenceburg, Tiffany White, Ashley (Joshua) Cornett and Jaclyn Helmick, all of Lexington; four great-grandchildren, Nysa White, Brennan, Carter and Noah Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12 PM Friday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main St. Burial will be in Double Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 10am until time of service. Kerr Brothers – Main St is in charge of arrangements.
