LEXINGTON, Ky. - Shirley Ruth Watson, 76, widow of Walter Watson, passed away Tues. April 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. Born Sept. 21, 1936 in Georgetown, KY, she was the daughter of the late Frank Bryan and Martha Lanter Pribble. She was a 1954 graduate of Stamping Ground High School and was a retired Fayette County School bus driver. Mrs. Watson had previously been a member of Chevy Chase Baptist Church and was currently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She bowled on the Southland Rebels Bowling League.
Survivors include three children, Larry Watson, Sue Annette (John) Whitehead, and Gary Watson; four grandchildren, Brad Whitehead, Kimberly (Chad) Greenwell, Damien (Angela) Whitehead, and Shay (Tony) Keys; eight great grandchildren; a brother, William “Pete” (Donna) Pribble; sisters, Sue (Fred) Watson and Judy Fenley; sisters-in-law, Lois (Orville) Griffin, Lillie (Charles) Spaulding, Linda (Gary) Power, and Andrea Watson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers-in-law, Roy and Arnold Watson.
Funeral services will be 10 am Fri. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Burial will follow in the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, KY. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Thurs. at the funeral home.
