LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lutie (Tootie) Sharpe Azevedo passed away April 26, 2013, at the age of 93. She graduated from Middlesboro High School (KY), and Transylvania University. She pursued graduate studies in Education at the University of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella Sharpe, her beloved husband of 59 ½ years, William D. “Bill” Azevedo, and her brothers Edward, Allen, and Vernon. Lutie taught school in Hamilton, OH, as well as Scott and Fayette Counties, KY, including 23 years at Glendover Elementary. She was a charter and faithful member of Crestwood Christian Church. A devoted Kentucky Wildcat fan, she and Bill attended football and basketball games and tailgate parties for many years. She loved and attended theatrical and musical performances of all kinds.
She is survived by her children, Mary Margaret (Jack) Collier (Nashville, TN), Vernon (Beth) Azevedo (Winchester, KY), Luanne (Jim) Franklin (Paris, KY); grandchildren, Lara and Allyson Cross, Mike and Chase (Amy) Azevedo, Lyndy (Jeromy) Franklin Smith and Chip (Lesley) Franklin; great-grandchildren Reed Franklin and Ben Smith, and many beloved friends.
Serving as Pallbearers are her three grandsons and grand son-in-law, along with Tom Porter and Dean Yost. Visitation: Milward - Broadway 4-29-13, 4-8pm. Service: Crestwood Christian Church 4-30-13, 11:30am. Contributions: Hospice East, Winchester, KY, Crestwood Christian Church.
