Ronald Edward Rager, 50, of Lexington, KY

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Ronald Edward Rager, 50, of Lexington, KY passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his residence.

He was the Chief Operating Officer with Bluegrass Hospitality Group and was the past Chairman of the KY Restaurant Association in 2012.

Ron was truly a gift to each and every life he was involved in.

Born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late J. G. and Ina Ratliff Rager, he was raised in Vero Beach, FL. Ron was raised by a loving family who taught him what it truly means to be passionate about people.

Ron was employed by the military for 18 years. Four and a half of those years were spent serving in the Air Force traveling through parts of Europe, Asia and the United States. Ron had visited more foreign countries than he had states. After the military, Ron moved to KY to be closer to family. He was employed with Thomas & King from 2001 until 2007 as a General Manager. In 2007, Bluegrass Hospitality brought him on as the Quality Assurance Manager. During Ron’s time with BHG, he had developed an impressive quality assurance program for the company; focusing on guest awareness, cleanliness, sanitation and developing BHG’s amazing culture! During his time with BHG, he had executed BHG’s partnership with the Blessings in a Backpack program. This program works with local schools to raise money to fill backpacks with food and school supplies for less fortunate children in our community. Ron’s work ethic was another one of his greatest strengths. He truly enjoyed being at work.

He is survived by two sisters, Nancy (Ronald) Cook, Sharpsburg, KY and Jacqueline (Mahlon) Pearsall, Jr., Vero Beach, FL; one aunt, Christine Pester, Mt. Sterling, KY; one uncle, Dorsey (Billie Jean) Ratliff, Georgetown, KY; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Southland Christian Church, Richmond Road Campus, 2349 Richmond Road from 5 until 8 PM Wednesday.

A celebration of his life will be 11 AM Thursday at the church.

Burial will be at a later date.

Contributions are suggested to the BHG Family Fund, 3347 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY 40502.
