LEXINGTON, Ky. - Margaret (Peggy) Sullivan Furry, 97, of Lexington, KY, passed away at the home of her son in Salem, VA on May 6, 2013 surrounded by family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward Sullivan and Katherine Moloney Sullivan; sisters Helen Jo Hudson and Catherine Camille Tipton; nephew Stanley Hudson III; and husband Lt. Col. Emmert Edgar Furry.
After attending the University of KY, she worked as an executive secretary for many years in the KY state government, at the Pentagon during WWII, and later at the Lexington-Blue Grass Army Depot. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very involved in all of her family’s activities. She was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King. Her favorite hobbies included flower gardening, baking and sewing.
She is survived by: son Father Michael Furry (Susan) of Salem, VA; daughter Diane Furry of Lexington, KY; step-daughter Sandra Moran (Don) of Barre, MA; nephews Dr. Edward Tipton (Jane) and John Tipton (Diana); grandchildren David Moran (Laura) and Anna, Catherine and Luke Furry; four great-grandchildren; and three great-nieces.
Visitation will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Camp Nelson at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements by Milward Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke, VA for their compassion and care.
