He was the son of the late Bernard and Pauline Lorenz Froehling.
He was a retired podiatrist, life member and past president of the Kentucky American Podiatric Medical Association, member of the American Legion and the Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club. He was also a Kentucky Colonel and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Walter B. Froehling, Jr., Lexington; one daughter, Louanne B. (Tony) Cooper, Lexington; two step-daughters, Brenda Hager and Kathy Tabb; one sister, Betty J. Gentry; three grandchildren, Sean P. Columbia, Stuart P. Cooper and Vanessa M. Froehling; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Dexter Hammond Froehling and a sister, Rose Adams.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Milward – Southland with burial to follow in the Lexington Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
