LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dr. Paul L. Cornelius, 76, passed away May 11, 2013 at his home in Lexington, KY after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Paul was born in Davenport, IA. He was retired from the University of KY after 37 years of service where he held a joint commission between the College of Agriculture and the Department of Statistics.
In 1960, he became a partner and conducted research in the family owned Cornelius Seed Company in Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Alice Cornelius, his brother Gerald Cornelius and his son, Daniel Albert Cornelius. He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Cornelius, several step-children, his daughter, Sarah and son-in-law, his granddaughter, Sidney Louise and a sister-in-law, Wanda Cornelius.
Mr. Cornelius was a faithful member of Tates Creek Christian Church and a member of the Bluegrass Christian Men’s Fellowship.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and 11 am-1 pm Friday at Tates Creek Christian Church where the funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be, Richard Simpson, Chuck Cornelius, David Sizemore, Ben Sizemore, Robert Walls, Tom Mueller, Dwayne Walls and Leonard Gilliam.
The family request that expressions of sympathy be given to Hospice of the Bluegrass in Paul’s honor.
