LEXINGTON, Ky. - Joseph (Joe) Franklin Alexander, 80, husband of Martha Walton Alexander, passed away Sun. May 12, 2013 at Baptist Health Lexington. Born Feb. 25, 1933 in Rush, KY, he was the son of the late Everett Allen and Mayme Burton Alexander. Mr. Alexander retired from General Telephone as a supervisor with 39 years of service. He was a member and Past Master of Devotion Masonic Lodge 160 F&AM and Lancaster Masonic Lodge 104 F&AM; a member of Rush Masonic Lodge 715, Scottish and York Rite Bodies, and the Oleika Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Ashland, KY and a member of the Church of Christ at Hume Rd. in Lexington.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Leonard (Michele) Alexander, Lewis (Lovisa) Alexander, and Leslie Alexander; four step-children, Glenn Swafford, Robin (Pete) Young, Darrella Kay (Darrell) Horne, and Jana (Calvin) Kelley; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be held 5-9 pm Wed. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. A Masonic Service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashland, KY will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to the North Lexington Church of Christ, 2280 Hume Rd., Lexington, KY 40516 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 21903, Lexington, KY 40522-1903.
