LEXINGTON, Ky. - James Kenneth Griffin, 79, of Lexington, Ky husband of Jimmie Ashurst Griffin, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
A native of Stamping Ground, KY, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Maude Glidewell Griffin.
He was retired from IBM with 33 years of service. He was also a member of Southern Heights Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, member of the American Legion, charter member of the Committee of 101, Paralyzed Veterans of America and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Besides his wife, survivors include his children, Jeanne Griffin Ritchey, Carolina Beach, NC, Kenny Scott (Debbie) Griffin, Salvisa, KY and Sandy Griffin, Lexington; brothers and sisters, Billy Griffin, Lexington, Rev. Orville Griffin, Georgetown, KY, Tommy Griffin, Georgetown, KY, Barbara “Tiny” Cook, Monterey, KY and Johnny Griffin, Georgetown, KY; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of other family members.
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Bobby and Jackie Griffin, Reba Provost, Wendell and Warren Griffin.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday at Milward – Man O’ War with a reception to follow.
Burial will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Georgetown.
Visitation will be from 4 until 7 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions are suggested to the KY ALS Association to help fight Lou Gehrig’s disease.
