LEXINGTON, Ky. - Gloria Faye Johnson, 84, went home to her Lord and family after fighting a very long and tiring illness Saturday, July 20, 2013.. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Bernie J. Johnson and Margaret Burton Kimball. She was retired from General Electric Glass Plant after 37 years, and was a faithful member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene. Miss Johnson taught Sunday school for 48 years. She was loved and will be missed by many. She had a host of friends.
She is survived by one sister, Sylvia Jean Romano (Bruno); four nieces, Sandra M. Kavanaugh (Gerald), Sheila K. Mondelli (Tony), Lynda J. Wagoner (Don), Crystal D. Haney; four nephews, Marvin Johnson, Jr. (Louise), David R. Johnson(Tina), Rev Richard E. Johnson (Sherri), Rev. Ralph E. Johnson (Laura), and many great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin J. Johnson (Georgie), and Raymond E. “Pete” Johnson (Mossie); two sisters, Carolyn Kimball and Evelyn Johnson; two nephews, William T. “Willy” Moberly and Marty G. Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, 12:00 noon, July 23, 2013 in the chapel of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home-Main Street with Rev. Gary Henry and Rev. Matthew Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 until 8pm Monday at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Jason, Michael, Billy Mondelli and Richard Johnson.
