LEXINGTON, Ky. - Bonnie Belle Ritchie Flynn, 79, surrounded by her loving family went into the arms of her Creator God and Savior Jesus on July 31, 2013. She was born in North Middletown, KY, to the late Silas Ancil Ritchie and Grace May Ritchie on December 18, 1933. After graduating as valedictorian from Nicholas County High School in Carlisle, KY, she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Transylvania University in Lexington, KY. She married Gene Paul Flynn on June 21, 1959, and they had four daughters. She retired in 1998 from the University of Ky, Department of Forestry as an administrative assistant. She also taught piano for more than 50 years, as well as played accompaniment and solos at Gardenside Baptist Church. Bonnie Flynn was a woman of great faith and tremendous love who taught her children to treasure the stories of Jesus and that God would use them to change the world if they followed Jesus wholeheartedly.
She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Gene, and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Flynn of Albuquerque, NM; Peggy (George) Athanasakes of Louisville, KY, Shirley (Doug) Mitchell of Lexington, KY, and Linda (Greg) Lengal also of Lexington, KY; brothers, Garner Ritchie of Lexington, KY, John Kenneth Ritchie of Springfield, MO, and Cecil Ritchie of Chula Vista, CA; and ten grandchildren: Emerald and Lucas Saldyt of Albuquerque; Jasmine, Nicole, and Evan Athansakes of Louisville; Mikayla, Sophia, and Victoria Mitchell of Lexington; and Sarah Rose and Andrew Lengal of Lexington.
To celebrate her life with the family, the funeral will be at the Gardenside Baptist Church in Lexington on Mon., August 5th at 10 am to be followed by interment at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. The visitation will be Sun., August 4th 3-5 pm at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd.
