LEXINGTON, Ky. - Maybelle (Marnie) Marr Bush, 89, widow of Richard Bush, Jr. and recently of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. She was a successful farmer and a savvy gardener. She was a devoted wife, daughter and mother. Loyal and considerate, fair and honest and kind, she was a true friend. She was a lover of dogs and horses, plants and flowers, and was a knowledgeable lover of antiques and oriental rugs. She made friends of all persuasions throughout her life and she made friends for life. She worked hard and enjoyed a good practical joke. She said what she thought.She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, The Junior League of Lexington, The Garden Club of Lexington at Ashland Garden, Keeneland Club, The Lexington Club and Idle Hour Country Club. She was a member of the Nurse’s Aide Corp of the American Red Cross during World War II and delivered Meals on Wheels at the organization’s inception in Lexington.
Survivors are two sons – Richard Clinton Bush (Jan), Madison County, and John Marr Bush (Missy), Louisville; two grandchildren – Helen Palmer-Ball Bush, Nashville, TN and Marnie Marr Bush, Louisville; three sisters – Nancy Mitchell (Fred), Martha Mooney (Chuck) and Dill Marr Johnson, all of Lexington; her niece - Malinda Clay Anderson (John) Oxford, Ohio; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Mooney, MD, James G. Bell, Guy Bradley, Robert L. Eliott, and Barry Potter. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to Baptist Health Foundation, 4000 Kresge Way, Louisville, KY 40207-9897. (Please specify that the funds be used for The Palliative Care Unit at Baptist Health Louisville.) Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Main Street. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lexington Cemetery.
