LEXINGTON, Ky. - Robert F. (Bob) Hilen, 79, son of the late George and Thelma Blackburn Hilen, passed away peacefully at his home in Lexington on Friday, August 16th after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 23, 1934 in Lexington, KY where he lived all of his life.
He is survived by his very loving and devoted wife, Sandy Miller Hilen, three daughters, Kim Novicki (Bruce) Louisville, Robyn Hayes (Bobby) and Heidi Maynard (Bo), Jessamine Co. Six grandchildren, Christian and Conner Novicki, Laura and Robbie Hayes, Jordan Baker and Zack Maynard and one loving sister, Cora Hilen Moynahan.
He was preceded in death by 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
Bob attended Lafayette High and was a Kroger store manager for many years until his retirement. He then went on to manage Big Elm Country Club. He was an avid golfer and a devoted, die hard Wildcat fan. He had a passion for serving the needy and was heavily involved with Golf For the Hungry. He was a faithful member of Northeast Christian Church, where he sang in the choir.
Pall Bearers will be; Dale, Chris, David and Porter Hilen, Jerry Herndon, Joe Freeman, David Houge, Bobby Logdon and Jeff Waters. Honorary Pallbearers are; Buford Burchfield, Dr John Rinehart, Paul Rose, Dick Tingle and Chuck Waters.
Visitation will be Tuesday 5-8 at Northeast Christian Church with Funeral services Wednesday 11:30 AM by Pastor John Hampton and Rev. Monte Wilkinson. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery.
