LEXINGTON, Ky. - Rita Stoerzer, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, August 26th. She was born in Ebingen, Germany on March 6th, 1927, and was long time resident of Lexington, KY. She was a typical German homemaker, dedicating her life to her husband, Mr. Herbert Richard Stoerzer, her son Karl Stoerzer (Lexington), and daughter Linda (Peter) Schmucker (Germany).
She is also survived by brother-in-law Roland (Klara) Kramer (San Diego), sister-in-law Hilde Stoerzer (Germany), five brothers and sisters in Germany, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed a variety of hobbies, such as baking, gardening, and spending time in her second home in Germany. Her family would like to express sincere gratitude to her countless friends and neighbors that were always there for any of her needs, especially as mentioned below:

The family would also like to thank Doctor Romond, and the entire UK HealthCare Markey Cancer Center staff, for all of their efforts in her 15 year battle with cancer. Also, special thanks to the Hospice of the Bluegrass “Green Team” (Anna, Connie, Debbie, Debra, Michelle, and Trish) for their compassion, support and treatment.
Also, a special “Thank You” to Father Dan Noll, ( Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church) for providing our mother’s spiritual guidance for her next journey.
A private family burial service will be held in Rottenburg/Hemmendorf Germany, where she will be buried alongside her husband. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Church at a future date.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass, Markey Cancer Center, or Salvation Army.
