CVB NEWOWENSBORO, Ky. (8/29/13) – The Board of Directors of the Owensboro Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced today the appointment of Shannon Wetzel as Executive Director. Wetzel, formerly of Owensboro, will take over in that capacity by mid-September.

"In Shannon Wetzel, the board has found an individual who is passionate about the success of tourism and economic development in Owensboro and Daviess County," said Rick Hobgood, CVB Board Chair.

Wetzel's professional experience includes roles in corporate relationship building, strategic business planning, event planning, corporate recruiting, marketing and sales.

"This is not the same Owensboro I moved away from six years ago," said Wetzel. "I'm so happy for the opportunity to return to my hometown to be part of this exciting time of growth and renewal for our community.

Wetzel succeeds Karen Miller Porter, who retired from the position earlier this year.
