Kenneth Lee Kirkland, Jr., 56

sunrayLEXINGTON, Ky. - Kenneth Lee Kirkland, Jr., 56, husband of Wanda Butler Kirkland, passed away Tues. Sept. 3, 2013 at his residence. Born May 26, 1957 in Lexington, KY, he was the son of Kenneth Lee Kirkland, Sr. and the late Louise Jones Kirkland. Mr. Kirkland was employed as a mechanic, and was a member of Pathway Ministries. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and drag racing. He was particularly proud of having helped his father build a drag racing car.

Survivors include two children, Dawn (Mike) Proffitt, and Jimi Wilson; mother-in-law, Florine Butler; two sisters, Sue Kirkland and Tina Kirkland-Rose; a brother, David (Sherry) Kirkland; and several nieces, nephews, and two great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and an aunt, Wanda 'Pete' Butler. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Sat. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Pastor Mike Currans and Rev. Charles Lees. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-9 Fri. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested the Lexington Humane Society, 1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504.
