LEXINGTON, Ky. - Phyllis Berry Alexander, 61, of Lexington, KY went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 30, 2013. The loving mother of two daughters Raquel (Bishop IV) Carter and Tamara Berry both of Lexington, KY was born in Louisville, KY on March 14, 1952 to the late Vivian Elaine Williams and George Edmonds. Phyllis graduated from Central High School in Louisville, KY and attended the University of Louisville. Phyllis believed in hard work, being her own boss, providing great customer service and starting each day with a smile. She worked for IBM, owned Basic Needs Home Companion Services, and founded as co-owner, Guide Realty Inc. where she worked for the last 7 years.
Preceding her in death were her sisters Constance Gray, and Vivian Trudeaux, and her brothers Preston Montjoy Staten, and Bobby (Celestine) Staten. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Daquel and Donovan; brothers, William (Margit) Staten and Leonard (Helen) Staten of Louisville, Gilbert (Florence) Staten of St. Louis, Mo.; sister Suzanne Williams of Los Angeles; a special aunt & uncle, Kathleen & Robert Logan and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Fri at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home – Harrodsburg Rd. by the Rev. Dr. Bishop Carter III. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 12 pm Fri. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington KY 40504.
