LEXINGTON, Ky. - Anna Zhidkova, passed away October 14, 2013.
On October 14 Anna Zhidkova, a UK student, passed away after a difficult, but brief, illness. Anna was born on March 14, 1987 in eastern Kazakhstan into a military family. She started sports at the age of 11, specifically track and field. She was a middle distance runner and triple jumper, but excelled in pole vault. After graduating from the Military-Technical University in Mechanical Engineering, in February 2010 Anna started at WKU on a track scholarship. She received her Civil Engineering degree from the joint WKU-UK Engineering program in May 2013. She was pursuing her graduate degree at UK.
She always took a responsible attitude toward any endeavor. 'I believe that you will only be rewarded with a successful result if you give everything. You can't spare yourself, even if it seems you could at first. Do everything that's within your power and then what will be, will be. 'Because of her attitude toward life, Anna earned the respect of her friends and teachers. She was goal oriented and a joyous person who wanted to dedicate her life to being a top engineer. Anna lit up the hearts of many people with the warmth of her soul.
Memorial Service will be at 4pm (visitation 2-4), October 19 at Kerr Brothers funeral home on Harrodsburg Rd. Contribution are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Anna Zhidkova Memorial Fund, c/o PNC Bank.
