LEXINGTON, Ky. - Margie Marshall Carlson, 88, widow of Harold F. Carlson, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. Born in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Dora Marshall. Margie was a bookkeeper for 35 years for Thompson-King- Tate and the Continental Inn. Margie was a 55 year member of Boones Creek Baptist Church, an avid bridge/card player, nationally ranked bowler and consummate joke teller.
Survivors are daughter, Penny McCarthy; granddaughter, Katie McCarthy; brother, Alex (Ruby) Marshall; sister, Betty (Alex) Jarman; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Alex) Rainey; and a host of nieces and nephews. Margie will always be cherished as a constant, loving mother and her granddaughter's biggest fan. She was lovingly cared for by Jean and by the staff of The Villa at Chevy Chase.
Margie was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Phillip F. McCarthy, DVM, brothers, Warren, Harold and J.T., and sisters, Louise, Marie, Rosalee and Edith.
Visitation will be Tuesday 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Boones Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services immediately following conducted by Dr. J. Timothy Mathis. Burial Hillcrest Memorial Park.
