Cordelia Shinnick 'Dee' Harmon, 80

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Cordelia Shinnick 'Dee' Harmon, 80, widow of Carrol Rodman Harmon 'Rod', passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Owensboro. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late William and Nancy Innes Shinnick. A graduate of the University of Ky, she was a former math teacher at Tates Creek High School and a member of Crestwood Christian Church. Always the hostess, she cherished family gatherings with her children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and her Harmon and Shinnick family. The annual Ky Derby Party was always a highlight for her dear friends and special bridge group. Dee enjoyed researching her family history, serving in the ministries of Crestwood Christian Church, and collecting Snoopy keepsakes.

She is survived by her children, Craig Rodman (Deborah) Harmon, Lexington; grandchildren, Gary, Lucy and Cory Harmon, and Jacqui Harmon (David) Eckdahl, Owensboro; grandchildren Jaime (Ben) McKown, Kelli and Daniel Eckdahl; and great grandchild, Caroline McKown. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Birmingham and Nancy Patrick.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Sat at Milward-Southland. Burial will follow at the Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. till service time. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Association.
