911 dispatch 300OWENSBORO, Ky. (8/22/13) --The Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch decided at a special called board meeting today to purchase spare Motorola radios. The idea was brought before the board at last month’s meeting.

The board will purchase the spare radios in case of an emergency or the older radios fail in the future. If the radios are purchased now in a bulk order, the dispatch will receive a discounted price of $38,000, saving $9,500 from the original pricing of $47,500.

“We want to be responsible with the taxpayers’ money,” said Paul Nave, 911 Central Dispatch Director.

The board is hoping that this purchase will help Central Dispatch communicate “all the time in all the positions,” said Nave.

The next Owensboro-Daviess County 911 Committee meeting is scheduled for November.
