Richard (Dick) Dykes 97, of Paducah

PADUCAH, KY - Richard (Dick) Dykes 97, of Paducah passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 4:25 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital.

He was a native of Sequatchie Valley, TN, member of Central Church of Christ and retired from Covington Brothers Wholesale Grocery with 37 years of service. He worked for Rhodes Burford Furniture Company for 18 years, and more recently for Sam’s Club for 18 years where he greeted you at the entrance and was in charge of shopping carts. He worked at Sam’s Club well into his nineties.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Bill) Barnhill, Paragould, AR, Judith Peck, Calvert City, Ky, Saundra D. Hamlin, Paducah, KY, two sons: Donald (Zondra) Dykes, Grand Rivers, KY, Richard (Karen) Dykes, Calvert City, KY, one daughter-in-law, Jolene Parker Dykes, Paducah, KY, two step-daughters, Wanda Mueller Perry, Paducah, KY, Yvonne Herndon, GA, sixteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four step-great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death was first wife, Hazel Rose Dykes, second wife, Lois McManus Dykes, son, Charles Dykes, parents, Sanders & Lucy Fredrick Dykes, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren., one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 5,2012 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Mr. Jim Faughn officiating. Burial will follow in the Maplelawn Park Cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
