Maurine Houser Whittemore, 94, of Paducah, KY

5sunsetPADUCAH, Ky. – Maurine Houser Whittemore, age 94, of Paducah, Passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 4:35 a.m. at Baptist Health Paducah.

Maurine was a member of the Eastern Star for over fifty years. She served as Worthy Matron of the Folsomdale Eastern Star Chapter.

A native of the St. John community, Maurine is survived by her daughter, Carole Murrin; a step-daughter, Betty Newton; a son-in-law, Tom Butler and wife Blanch; three granddaughters, Melanie Gilliam and husband Jim, Milinda McGowan and husband Steve, Kim Crawford; a grandson, Jason Butler and wife Lydia; three great grandsons and three great granddaughters; two great great granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary McCain Thompson; her first husband, Milton Houser; her second husband, John Whittemore; a daughter, Shirley Butler; a granddaughter, Shelia Butler; a great Grandson, Cody Bailey; two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel following visitation, then burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Brother Bill Ogden will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Shriner's Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Rd., Lexington, KY 40502 or St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn 38105.
