Claudine Pepper Shurley, 94, of Paducah, Ky

PADUCAH, Ky. - Claudine Pepper Shurley, 94, of Paducah, Ky formerly of Meridian, MS, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis, IL.

Claudine was born in Yazoo City, MS on September 18, 1918 to the late Wesley Pepper and Mary Annie Fisher Pepper. She retired as a secretary from Meridian and Bigbee Railroad. Mrs. Shurley was a lifelong resident of Mississippi before moving to Ky in 1995. She was a member of Paducah First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Lynn E. Shurley, Jr. and his wife, Elaine; two grandsons, Britton Michael Shurley and wife Amelia of Paducah, and Justin Plyler Shurley and wife Amy of Ft. Wayne, IN; and two great-granddaughters, Thea and Opal Shurley of Paducah.

She was preceded by her husband, Lynn E. Shurley, Sr. and her brother, Calvin O’Reilly.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3-5 pm Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Paducah First Presbyterian Church-Memorial Hall.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS.

Contributions may be made to Paducah First Presbyterian Church Playground Fund, 200 N. 7th Street, Paducah, KY 42001.
