Blue Collar Comments – On Deaf Ears

bluecc300 AHOPKINS COUNTY, KY (9/24/13) – My name is Scott Rogers and I have written a lot of things regarding how the city and county government has run things, such as the fact that the spending keeps going on and on.
 
What I am seeing here is that Hopkins County is falling further and further back.
 
As I have stated before, there are people in this city that tell me that this is not their problem. In one of my last Blue Collar Comments, a member of the Fiscal Court, while I was addressing several issues, leaned back in his chair and told the judge, “We need to end this.” As a result, the judge informed me that my time was over.
 
The question that I’m asking you, the citizens of Hopkins County, is that who is running the Fiscal Court? I guess Mr. Wilson is judge and jury. The citizens of the city and county elect the Mayor, the City Council, the Judge and the member of the Fiscal Court.
 
I have also went before the Board of Education, the Library Board, and the City Council. I have yet to get an answer to my questions. The answer is always the same. “It’s not our problem.” So, whose problem is it?
 
I have a person in Frankfort that I call and ask questions and this person always gets back to me. I have called the Board of Education, the Attorney General’s Office, and it’s like a shell game. This person tells me to call another person, and that person continues to tell me to call another.
 
I have a 41 page report from the Division of Abandoned Mine Lands about the Hopkins County Career and Tech Center (LB#12730). The Tech Center is falling in, after the Board of Education spent 6 million dollars on it, and now they are walking away? When I go before the city and the county, they tell me that it is not their problem and Fiscal Court members tell the judge that we need to end this? Who is running this county?
 
If I was the judge, in that situation, I would have told Mr. Wilson that he was out of order.
 
Citizens of Hopkins County, I think we need to look long and hard at who is running the county. Is it the judge or the magistrate?
 
Remember, election time is just around the corner, and I will not forget what Wilson said when I was addressing the Court.

We, the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this, Constitution for the United States of America.
