Glenn Earl Dexter, 79, of Paducah, Ky

PADUCAH, Ky. - Glenn Earl Dexter, 79, of Paducah, Ky passed away at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Southgate Nursing & Rehab. Center in Metropolis, IL. Glenn was a 50-year member of Broadway United Methodist Church where he served on various committees. He was a graduate of Lone Oak High School in 1951 then attended Paducah Junior College and played basketball and baseball. He was a graduate of Murray State University and was a teacher, basketball coach, assistant principal and principal at Lone Oak High School. Glenn also served as president of Draughon’s Business College, principal at Eldorado High School in Eldorado, IL and part owner of Truck Driving School in Paducah. Glenn served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. Toledo. He enjoyed camping and was an avid University of KY basketball and St. Louis Cardinal fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Fowler and husband Steve of Independence, KY, Marsha Reynolds of Tiline, KY, one sister, Pat Champion and husband Don of West Paducah, KY, four grandchildren, Tara Moore and husband Mark, of Paducah, KY, Erik Fowler and wife Danielle of Lexington , KY, Zach Collier of Paducah, KY and Lindsey Dube’ and husband T.J. of Newport, KY, four great-grandchildren, Estella Fowler, Max Fowler, Laurie Fowler and Brooklyn Dube’, two nieces Tricia Albright and Tiffany DeBoe.

Preceding in death were his mother and step-father, Mildred Settle Gilliland and husband, H.C., his father and step-mother, Charles Earl Dexter and wife, Virginia, one daughter, Glenda Collier and brother, Bobby Dexter.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Beale officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery in Lone Oak. Friends may call on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 after 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
