MURRAY, KY - Katherine Ray, age 94, of Murray, Kentucky, passed away November 4, 2011 at Spring Creek Health Care in Murray.
She was retired from Michigan Bell Telephone as a operator and administrator; She was a member of the Goshen United Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, member of the church choir and the United Methodist Woman; She was also a member of the Doll Club and the Harris Grove Homemakers.
She was born in Calloway County Kentucky on January 24, 1917 to the late Elbert and Lillie Belle Mayor Parks. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, William Harry Ray; one sister, LaRue Turner; two brothers, Marvin Parks and Milton Parks.
She is survived by her daughter, Melva Cooper and husband Charles, of Murray, Kentucky; one sister, Myrtle Jones and husband Joe of Louisville, Kentucky; two granddaughters, Karen Harper and husband Clay of Hendersonville Tennessee, Karla Veatch and husband Paul of Waterford Michigan; one step grandchild, five great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and one great great grandchild also survives.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Monday, November 7, 2011 in the chapel of the J.H. Churchill Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Jones, Rev. Tim Palmer, Rev. Billy Turner and Rev. David Allbritten will officiate with burial to follow it the Goshen Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, 2011 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home
