KEVIL, KY - Alfred Ray (Tom) Hammonds, 80, of Kevil, passed away Tuesday at 12:13 am at his home.
Tom was born March 30, 1931 in the Highpoint Community to the late George L. and Mary Holder Hammonds. He served in the Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Corporal. He was a 40-year journeyman plumber who worked for various local contractors. Tom was a member of Spring Bayou Baptist Church and Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Donna Rae (Sanders) Hammonds; a son, Raymond Eugene Atkinson of Macon, GA; four grandchildren, Shawna Wilcher of Paducah; Makyla Marie Thomas, Lori Marie Morris, and Jeffrey Don Morris; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Lynn of Dayton, OH and Mary Helen Youngblood of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Radonna Lynn Morris; three sisters, five brothers, and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Friday at Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Tipton officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Brooks Memorial Park.
