PADUCAH, KY - George Edward Koch, 83, of Paducah, passed away Saturday at his home.
George was a graduate of Ohio State University, University of Michigan and served in the Navy. After he retired as a chemical engineer from Airco, George taught Distributive Education at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. George and his wife Pat grew to love and appreciate Kentucky, which encouraged George to promote Kentucky tourism. He worked as a supervisor at Whitehaven and was the recipient of the Commonwealth of Kentucky- Department of Travel Development Special Appreciation Award. In addition, Mr. Koch was one of the founders of the Lone Oak Optimist Club.
A member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, he served as Reader, Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendant and Reading Room Librarian.
George was happily married to his wife, Patricia Mohn Koch, for over 47 years; and was a devoted father to his daughter, Kim Koch of Paducah. Also surviving is his dear sister, Laureen Mohn of Michigan.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Arthur and Ida Frances Koch; and a brother, John Koch.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Garden Chapel with Linda Adams officiating.
Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Monday at the Woodlawn Memorial Garden Chapel. Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
