PADUCAH, KY - Jerry Donald Conyer, Sr., 81, of Paducah, passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at Lourdes Hospital.
Jerry was born in Salem, KY on September 10, 1930 to the late Ernest and Myra Mitchell Conyer. He was a 1948 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Jerry served in the Army during the Korean War and was a sergeant with the 45th Armor Division from 1951-1953. His career as a Civil Engineer took him to many area businesses during his working years. He was a member of Broadway Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign War, and American Legion. His main interests were golf and watching horse racing.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Dean Edwards Conyer; two sons, Jerry D. Conyer, Jr. and wife Lisa of Little Rock and Michael E. Conyer of Nashville; a step son, Barry Lee Theobald and wife Mary of Nashville; a step daughter, Susan Theobald Moore and husband Michael of Bedford, TX; seven grandchildren, Katie Mulosia and husband Sifa, Nicholas Moore, Lauren Theobald, Nicole Theobald, John Luke Theobald, Jerry D. Conyer III, and William Conyer; and a nephew, Billy Jones and wife Kim of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Jones; one nephew, Mark Jones, and his parents.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 1pm Friday at Brooks Memorial Park with Dan Owen officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-8 pm at Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
