GREENVILLE, KY - Thelma Katherine Yates, 88 of Greenville, KY passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10:00 pm at her daughter’s home.
Thelma was born on April 25, 1923 in Graham, Kentucky the daughter of William Lloyd Winebarger and Lillian Virginia Oates Winebarger. She was both a prolific artist and a favorite teacher. She taught special education and 2nd and 3rd grade at Greenville Elementary School for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville for many years, and took a leadership role, sang in the Joyful Sounds, and demonstrated her love and faithfulness to everyone she knew. She was a painter and belonged to the Greenville Art Guild and had watercolor and oil showings in the Duncan Center in Greenville. An avid and knowledgeable bird watcher and gardener, she had a special touch with plants, animals, and all whom she knew. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Greenville, KY.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm from First Baptist Church by Dr. Charles Midkiff and Reverend John F. Brandon. Burial will follow in Unity Cemetery in Graham, KY.
