nilaWEIR, KY - Nila Jean Drake, 86 of Weir, KY died Monday afternoon February 27, 2012 at 1:58 p.m. at her home after a lengthy illness.  Nila was born July 3, 1925 in Hopkinsville, KY the daughter of Thelbert M. Gates and Haiti Gates. She was a member of Cherry Grove Church of Christ in Weir and she retired from Pennyrile Mental Health after 20 years.  She was a graduate of Western Kentucky University and was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 62 years Guy  Glendel  Drake in 2006, son Terry Kent Drake in 2001, brothers Tom Gates and Alfred Gates.

She is survived by
4 granddaughters Kristal (Jim) Cobb of Greenville, KY.
Joy (Richard) Richeson  of Centertown, KY.
Amanda (Dylan) Stafford of Jacksonville, FL.
Betsy (Colin) Nelson of Greenville, KY.
8 great-grandchildren Christopher, Travis, Sarah, Autumn, Brandon, Drew, Kent, April
2 great-great granddaughters Linzey and Sage

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday morning March 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, KY by Mr. Johnny Kelton with burial to follow in Cherry Grove Cemetery Weir, KY.

Friends may call Wednesday February 29, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, KY. and after 9:00 a.m. Thursday.
