MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Willie "Mac" Wimberly, 95 went to be with the Lord April 11, 2012. He was born on October 20, 1916 in Lyon County the son of Terry and Laura Stevens Wimberly.
He and his wife of 71 years Ruthell Walker Wimberly owned a farm and one of his greatest joys was working on his farm with his cows and John Deere tractors. He loved children especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was very ingenious, evidence of which can be seen all around his home and farm. Always learning he taught himself to play the guitar and harmonica.
Serving in WWII military he assisted in liberating a Nazi camp, was at Battle of the Bulge, and the Army of Occupation. He cared for a neighboring orphanage and received several medals including American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Sharp Shooter.
As the oldest male member of Oak Grove Baptist Church he held several positions including Van Driver, Janitor, Sunday School Superintendent, and Trustee.
Everyone appreciated his sense of humor, including his good friends at Belle Meade.
He was preceded in death by Ruthell and their son Buell, and siblings; Francis (Agnes), Mary Elizabeth (Cloyd) Spurling, Norvel (Mary Bell), James (Lorene) and Eugene "Mutt" (Adele). Survivors include his daughter June and son (in-law) Leslie Scott, Grandchildren William (Sherri) Scott, and Maclynn Scott. Great Grandchild Jessica (Chad) Anderson and Great Great Grandchild Klara Elizabeth Anderson. As well as several nieces and nephews, friends and Church Family.
Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon April 14, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral by Rev Vernon Cook and Rev. Kenneth Abbott. Burial with Military honors will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Depoy, KY.

Friends may call Friday April 13, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, Ky. and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
