allen135MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - James Lloyd Allen, 83 of Greenville, KY passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 4:47 p.m. at the Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, KY after a sudden illness.

Jim was born September 29, 1928 in Muhlenberg County, he was the son of the late Miller Weir Allen and Oma Myrtle Lovell Allen. He was an Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, KY where.
0 he was a member for 21 years.  Jim was a control room operator for K. U. Green River Power Station for 27 years and he owned and operated Inland Marine in Greenville for 21 years before retiring in 1989. He was an Army Veteran serving in Germany during the 1950’s and was Powderly Town Marshal for 5 years. He was Civil Defense Director for Muhlenberg County 10 years and was President of Christ Apostles Food Pantry Inc. which has given over 1 million total pounds of food, to feed approximately 6,000 people every month.

Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years - Marjorie Dukes Allen of Greenville, KY; daughter - Lynne (James “JJ” Johnson) Shelby of Greenville, KY; 2 grandson - Brad (Jennifer) Shelby of Midway, KY, Daniel Shelby of Greenville, KY; great-granddaughter - Ella Kathryn Shelby; great-grandson - Elias Duvall Shelby; brother - Buddy Joe (Lou) Allen of Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted by Gary’s Funeral Home of Greenville, KY on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, KY by Dr. Tim Davis. Burial with Military Honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Greenville, KY.

Friends may call Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, KY and after 12:00 noon on Wednesday until funeral time at the church.
