Katie Suthard Staples Nix, 96, of Central City

MUHLENBERG COUNTY, KY - Katie Suthard Staples Nix, 96, of Central City, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Owensboro Medical Health System.

She was born on April 30, 1916 in Hopkins County, was a retired nurse at the Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville and was a member of the Central City First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her first husband, Marion Staples, second husband, Walter Nix and a daughter, Martha Lou Staples.

Survivors include a son, Joe(Connie)Staples of Benton, a daughter, Dorothy(Mitch)Swain of Shelbyville, TN., three grandchildren, Scott(Kim)Staples of Livermore, John Martin(Shannon)Miller of Hawaii and James Marion(Paula)Miller of Nashville, TN. , four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, a sister, Avis Dukes of Central City, two half sisters, Nell Denny of Louisville and Jane Radcilff of Evansville, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 21, 2012 at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, conducted by Rev. Bob Lowery with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Visitation will be after 9:00 AM Monday at the funeral home.
