CENTRAL CITY, Ky - Clifford Deering Jr. 83 of Central City, Ky. died Wednesday morning January 16, 2012 at 4:45 a.m. in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. after several months illness. He was born September 8, 1929 in Graham, Ky. the son of Clifford Deering Sr. and Sybil Robison Deering. He was a Army Veteran where he was a Sergeant during World War II in Japan and the Korean War. He was a UMWA coal miner working for Peabody Coal Company as a Prospect Driller for 30 plus years before retiring. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a Mason. He was a Life Member of VFW post # 5478 in Greenville and American Legion post #0061 in Central City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 43 years Joyce F. Deering 10-23-2012, sisters Fannie Catlett and Jennie Allgood, and brother Charles Deering.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon January 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, Ky. Rev. LeRoy Reardon. Burial with Military Honors will be at Fairmont Cemetery Central City, Ky.
