lavoun jacksonMUHLENBERG, Ky. – LaVoun Jackson, 93, passed away Wednesday evening March 6, 2013 in Muhlenberg Community hospital after a lengthy illness.

She was born April 12, 1920 in Greenville, KY to Shelby and Betty Walker. LaVoun married James Jackson on October 1, 1938. They were married for 41 years until his death on October 3, 1979 at the age Of 61. She worked for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education for 26 years. She began in 1966 as a teacher's aide at Muhlenberg Central. She moved to the Central Office in 1972 as secretary to the Director of Pupil Personnel. She worked there for 20 years, until her retirement in August of 1992. LaVoun was a member of the Cherry Grove Church of Christ in Weir, KY

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lucille Walls.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by one son, Jimmy Jackson (Pat) of Greenville, KY; daughter, Jackie Peterson of Greenville, KY; three grandsons, Clint Jackson (Shannon), Jarrod Peterson, and Jay Peterson; and two great-grandsons, Oakley Jackson and Wesley Jackson; Great- grand daughter Jaycee Peterson.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday afternoon March 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, KY by Mr. Bob Gardner with burial to follow in Cherry Grove Cemetery in Weir, KY.

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning March 9, 2013 at Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, KY.
