MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. - Zelmodene Adams, 81, of Powderly, KY was surrounded by her loving family as she went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 16, 2013. She was born on September 14, 1931 in Muhlenberg County. Zelmodene was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked at Central City IGA at the meat department and was the deli manager for several years. She also worked at Houchens Grocery in Greenville and was a deli manager at Wal-Mart. She was also the cook supervisor at the Muhlenberg County Job Corps. She was a member of Woodson Missionary Baptist Church in Powderly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Adams; brother, Bryon Culbertson; and sister, Joyce Pentecost.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Sandy) Spears of Greenville, Steven Spears of Powderly, Randall (Lydia) Adams of Greenville, David Adams of Powderly, and Daniel Adams of Powderly; step-son Eddie (Carolyn) Adams of Lone Oak; daughters Melody (Barry) Gary of Crestwood and Marilyn (Todd) Peveler of Powderly; grandchildren Courtney Spears, Jacob Gary, Justin Epley, Emily Adams, Lucas Adams, Alex Peveler, Danielle Adams, and Brent Adams; step-great-grandchild Tanner Adams; brother Rev. Johnny (Carolyn) Culbertson of Greenville; sister Glenda (Robert) Cox of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 2:00PM at Woodson Baptist Church, with Rev. Travis Fox and Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday after 4:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Mrs. Adams will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00AM until 2:00PM.
