MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky - Ophelia Hardison, 93, life long resident of the Weir community, passed away on March 19,2013 at Muhlenberg Community Hospital after a lengthy illness.
The funeral service will be held at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville with Bobby Hardison, step-son officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m_Thursday March 21, 2013 at the Funeral Hone and funeral will follow At 2:00 p.m. . at Gary’s Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gary's Funeral Home Greenville, Ky. Burial will follow in Hardison Cemetery Weir, Ky.
Ophelia was born in Christian County on June 21,1919 to Olaf and Nola Wells. She has 1 sister living, Margie Utley and 2 siblings deceased, Newell and Oma Corrie.
She was married to A.B. Hardison for over 40 years and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Ophelia worked for Baxter's in Greenville and JC Penney's in Hopkinsville. She enjoyed having company and cooking for her family and friends. She was a member at Lone Star Baptist Church.
Ophelia is survived by son, Billy Johnston (Verna Faye Johnston), grandchildren- Kimberly Mathis (Wade Mathis) and Karen Rice, Great grandchildren- Ashley Hilburn, Brooke Nokes, Chase Hilburn, Kaitlin Rice and Candace Rice. Great Great grandchildren-Madison and Abigail Nokes. She had 3 step-son's and family, Bobby Hardison (Violet Hardison) and (Kirk and Joe Hardison-grandchildren), Curtis Hardison,(Brent Hardison and Wendy West-grandchildren), Ronald Hardison (Linda Hardison) both deceased,(Barry Hardison and Cindy Hardison-grandchildren).
The family of Ophelia Hardison wishes to thank the following for their support, love and compassion during her lengthy illness; Diane Drake, Muhlenberg Community Hospital, Dr. Barry Hardison, family, and many friends. She was loved by everyone that knew her.
