MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky - Raymond O. W. “Jamie” Vincent, 89 of Greenville, Ky. died Tuesday evening March 19,2013 at 9:45 p.m. at his home after a lengthy illness. Jamie was born November 28, 1923 in Central City, Ky. the son of Marshall Vincent and Ida Jarvis Vincent. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville and was a U.M.W.A. coal miner for 30 years working for Peabody Coal Company Gibraltar Mine. Jamie was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific for 39 months straight. He received the Purple Heart Medal and 7 Bronze Stars for being in 7 Major Battles. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 65 years Freda Louise Pendley Vincent on May 4, 2012, son Ray Lynn Vincent, 3 brothers Omer Vincent, Alvie Vincent, Archie Vincent, and sister Drucee Bethel.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon March 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Gary’s Funeral Home Greenville, Ky. by Rev. George Thompson. Burial with Military Honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery Greenville, Ky.
