HEND ARREST REP1HENDERSON, Ky. (4/9/13) – A Newburgh, Ind., man was arrested on charges of DUI after allegedly hitting a pedestrian near the intersection of Marywood and U.S. 41 in Henderson on Friday, April 6. According to Henderson Police, Barry Dempsey, 35, was driving along U.S. 41 at approximately 7:37 p.m. when he allegedly struck Paul Payne, 50, Henderson. Authorities said a second unknown vehicle also struck Payne, but fled the scene. Dempsey was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence, Aggravating Circumstances. The incident remains under investigation, and authorities ask anyone with information about the case to contact the Henderson Police Department at 270-831-1295 or Crimestoppers at 270-831-1111.

The Henderson Police Department is investigating a report of a “false bill” being used to pay for merchandise. According to Henderson Police, the assistant manager at the business told authorities that on April 5, an unknown suspect described as a white male allegedly came into Rural King on S. Green Street and paid for a purchase with a fake bill. Police haven’t made any arrests in the case. The Henderson Police Department is seeking a suspect wanted on charges of burglary in connection with theft of funds from a local business. According to Henderson Police, an unknown person entered Bridgeview Coffee sometime overnight April 4 or 5 and stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. The investigation is continuing. A Henderson man reported at approximately 3 p.m. on April 7 that an unknown person allegedly stole 300 feet of welding leads from his property on U.S. Hwy. 41.
