Greenville, Ky - Ernest Monroe Lambert, Sr., of Drakesboro, KY formerly of Athens, WV, died April 12, 2013. He was 73.
Lambert was born in Kimball, WV, son of Charles and Marjorie Lambert.
He served in the United States Air Force and then the Army during Vietnam, as part of the 2nd Battalion, 35th Infantry, 3rd Brigade. He saw combat in Vietnam. He received the Silver Star Medal of Valor, and the Bronze Star, for his actions. He served a total of 22 years in the United States Armed Services.
Lambert is survived by children, Louis Dean, of Anchorage, Ak., Janet Leigh Magadanz, (Keith), of Clearwater, Fl., Ernest M. Lambert, Jr., of Kimball, WV, Warren C. Lambert, (Julie) of Athens, WV, Justin Kraus, (Christina), of Wasilla, Ak., and Sara M. Lambert, of Clayton, NC; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Jackie Lambert, (Wanda), of Greenville, Ky, Mary Burleson, (Charles), of Aurora, MO, Doris Heafner, (Carson),of Newton, NC, Wanda Jones, of Princeton, WV, Rita White, of Claremont, NC, Chuck Lambert, (Jane), of Bluefield, WV, Jo Gray, (Johnny), of Athens, WV and Larry Lambert, (Diane), of Harrisburg, NC, Terry Lambert, (Lisa), of Claremont, NC and Rodney Lambert, of Myrtle Beach, SC; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in Death by his parents and two sisters, Linda Lou Lambert and Rose Marie Lambert and, a brother Marvin Lambert.
Funeral services will be Monday afternoon April 15. 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West, Hopkinsville, KY with full Military Honors to follow.
Viewing hours will be on Sunday, April 14, 2013, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home, Greenville, Ky. Funeral services and Interment with military honors will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Online condolences to the family can be made at www.garysfuneralhome.net
